Biography

Thijs van de Laar received his M.Sc. degree in natural sciences from the Radboud University Nijmegen in 2010, and his Ph.D. degree in machine learning from the Eindhoven University of Technology in 2019. Currently he works as an assistant professor at BIASlab at the Eindhoven University of Technology. His research focuses on artificial agents that learn to control themselves in uncertain environments. He takes inspiration from physics and neuroscience, and develops theory and (software) tools that allow for efficient, real-time interaction.
